Scholarship Maths Preparation

In preparing for the scholarship exams, applicants are generally expected to study Mathematics courses 1-2 years above their enrolled grade at school. At Impact Education, we teach an advanced maths syllabus to provide students with the relevant skills and knowledge they require, particularly focusing on achieving speed as well as accuracy. We set homework and provide tailored practice papers to aid in preparation. Ultimately, we believe a broad exposure to various types of maths questions is the key to success.

Scholarship English Preparation

Scholarship English exams test two particular skills; reading and writing.

For example, reading sections generally comprise of 35-50 questions which students must complete within 30 minutes, which means time management and an efficient approach is crucial.

For writing components, students must write 1-2 pieces within 20 minutes each; this task asks them to channel their creativity and tests skills of structure and communication.

Accordingly, in our classes students learn:

  • How to approach writing passages and systematically structure answers

  • How to scan comprehension/reading passages and derive key information

  • How to allocate time to completing tasks

Scholarship General Ability Preparation

The general ability exams include:

  • Verbal reasoning

  • Numerical reasoning

  • Abstract reasoning

The exam also requires a unique approach, in which logic and creativity must be combined. General ability can be improved over time, but requires diligence and practice.

In our classes we aim to:

  • Teach students how to recognise patterns

  • Review difficult questions and model different ways to approach a problem

  • Provide a wealth of worksheets and resources so questions are new
